Establishing the habit of blogging

Establishing a new habit takes focus and structure. Here is how I am using voice dictation to overcome friction and stay consistent.

Establishing a new habit takes time, repetition and resilience.

You have to put in the work in order for your brain to recognise that

Ever since I have started getting my feed wet blogging I thought a lot about how to establish a blogging habit and read a few guides, articles, etc. My takeaway was also that you have to establish a habit to do a certain thing.

ALso taking my experience with starting a new sports into consideration, I learned that three months is the real pivot point.

Before that mark, a new routine feels forced. But if you push through, it slowly starts to feel like a natural part of your life.

You have to be resilient and okay with monotonous repetition over and over again. Even as someone who has changed and learned a lot throughout her life, building a new habit takes focused energy.

Balancing structure with creative impulses

I am a very organized person, but I also have a creative side. Sometimes impulses and curiosity hinder me from following a set plan because my mind wanders and I deviate.

Looking at what I have posted so far, I haven't done the best job, so I need to hold myself accountable. I am setting a concrete goal: five quality posts every week for the next month.

After four weeks, I will check in to see if this practice was feasible and if it started feeling more natural.

Removing friction with dictation

What usually blocked me from writing was having to format and type everything out. Speech comes way more naturally to me.

Right now, I am using a speech to post functionality that I have build for my blog. The goal was simple, I wanted to combine something that feels easy and natural with a habit I want to establish.

Important note here is that AI is not writing my thoughts for me. It simply takes what I dictate, puts it into a clean format, and supports me in building a routine.

Why not leverage tools that make our lives easier?
